The Ionic Sea with its many protected islands is optimally suited for beginners, families and people who want to sail with great relish. Children will feel happy too since the stages aren’t as long. Season starts around Easter. Beware though, that the Greek-Orthodox holidays don’t always coincide with the West-European Easter dates, when huge processions on Corfu turn into public festivals.

Most charter boats are moored in the Marina Gouvia in Corfu and few and far between on the island of Prevaza and across on the main shore. The vegetation on all of the islands in the Ionic Sea is lush with pine trees, flowers, vineyards and fragrant Mediterranean herbs.

Old seafaring peoples have left their mark on the islands of Corfu, Paxi, Lefkas, Kefalonia, Zakynthos and Ithaca. Ruins and constructions recount tales of Romans, Venetians, Byzantines, and Turks and of Odysseus. Yachtsmen love the clear waters, the quaint sandy beaches and last but not least the small lively fishing harbours.
