Just in time for the upcoming high season 2017/2918 yacht charter fleets can be booked on all islands in the Caribbean again. Even over the holidays there are still some bareboat yachts available, as well as motor yachts and sailing catamarans with crew. Many luxurious yachts with crew are on their way to the Caribbean and will be ready for a fantastic charter holiday starting in December.
The hurricanes Irma and Maria have left their mark on the British Virgin Islands, St. Barths and St. Martin, some charter companies have lost up to 60% of their ships. But new yachts have already been ordered, the booking calendars been re-sorted – the entire Caribbean is “ready for charter”. Nature is recovering rapidly: the green is coming back, the beaches are mostly tidy. The charter guests in the Caribbean can look forward to a great navigation area with picturesque bays, beach bars, steel bands and reggae sounds and a lot of Caribbean flair – and to friendly people, who rely more than ever on the yacht charter tourism.
Especially in the BVI and on St. Martin, Yacht Charter crews will find an atmosphere still known from the Caribbean of twenty years ago: The simple beach bars and numerous restaurants have already opened and are looking forward to the yacht charter crews. On the other hand, time will pass until the reconstruction of many hotel resorts and luxury lounges and of the houses of the islanders will be completed. All the more the inhabitants are looking forward to the charter tourists and hope for a good season, also as a basis for the reconstruction.
The infrastructure – provisioning in supermarkets, air traffic, communication, cash machines etc – is working again. New jetty systems were ordered and assembled. “BVI is open for business” was announced by the British Virgin Islands, one of the most popular charter destinations, at the beginning of November. The situation is similar in St. Martin and St. Barth’s.
Antigua and all islands further south (except Dominica) were not hit by the hurricanes: The dreamlike charter cruises on the Windward Islands, the Grenadines and Grenada were not endangered at all, as well as in the south of Cuba. Charter fleets in Grenada are even bigger this year.
