Especially in the European winter, the Red Sea is a popular tourist destination – particularly the coasts of Egypt, Israel and Jordan in the northern part. Beach holiday, excursions in the desert, surfing, snorkeling and scuba diving are on the agenda of most tourists in the region. About 2000 kilometers coral reefs, coral gardens and picturesque wrecks attract diving tourists – the sea is saltier than the oceans, so there is less plankton, and thus better visibility under water. Yacht Charter tourism in the Red Sea is still in its beginnings, but motor boats, boats for diving and some yachts with skipper can already be chartered.
