Airlie Beach is a typical tourist spot with good travel connections, its own airport (Whitsunday Coast airport), excellent provisioning means for charter sailors and lots of day trippers: many travel agencies offer day trips to Great Barrier Reef. Numerous diving schools offer courses, you’ll see lots of backpackers on the streets, sailors with a little more time on their hands, can also take advantage of the choice of excursions into the backcountry. Not far from the coast lies Shute Harbour and Conway National Park.
