Sailing Charters Gulf of Thailand

New yacht charter bases in the Gulf of Thailand

So far charters from Phuket have been established for many years – a good starting harbour to explore the Andaman Sea or head to Langkawi in Malaysia. Now the Gulf of Thailand is becoming a popular destination for bareboat yacht charters in Thailand as well.

The new bases are on the islands Koh Chang and Koh Samui. The best sailing seasons in the Gulf of Thailand are depending on the monsoon seasons. While Koh Chang is a perfect sailing area in the European winter from October to April, in Koh Samui the season lasts from April to end of August.

SAILING THE KOH CHANG ARCHIPELAGO

In the Koh Chang Archipelago you can explore a part of Thailand that has not yet been overflown by mass tourism. You will see small bungalows on the white beach with picturesque bars, some high end resorts as well or real fishing villages. You can enjoy restaurants from simple original Thai food to high end cuisine. You will discover quiet anchorages. Sailing distances are mostly short, island hopping at its best. The area is great for snorkeling in pristine clear water – or for a diving excursion to some wrecks. Ashore you could walk to hidden waterfalls or visit elephants.

And if you want to see more: Cambodia and world famous Angkor Wat is nearby, ideal to visit after your sailing trip.

SAILING FROM KOH SAMUI

Even if Koh Samui is popular for holidays in tourist resorts and busy nightlife but it’s a great cruising are as well. Secret beaches with bamboo beach bars are waiting for you once you left the yacht charter base. Distances from one island to next are between five and 20 miles. Among the islands you should see are for example Koh Phangan or Koh Tao – and of course discover the Angthong Marine Park Archipelago.
